Food Food Food around Ewha!!

There is no sincerer love than the love of food.

-George Bernard Shaw-

Hey there!!

I literally the quote by George Bernard Shaw *refer above* because no matter what food can never lying to you or cheated on you >.<. The taste of the first bite of your very first meal is really good especially for delicious and irresistable food. Okay I guess I am being a lil bit exaggerated .

Actually I've discussed about the topic of food around Ewha in my previous year entry. You may refer this post --> Foods around Ewha and I will add more infos about food around Ewha.

Ya. I am in serious relationship with food. hehhe

When you are in 'perantauan ' ( malay words for people who are being away from home) you will have the time that you are realllyy wants to eat your home cook food . Unfortunately, for Malaysians there is no Malaysian restaurants around Ewha and even you travel to the Itaewon ( famous place for halal and foreign food ) it's hard to find Malaysian authentic food restaurant. You will only find Indonesian, Indian food. There were few Malaysian restaurants in Gangnam and Itaewon but it didn't survive. =( . It might caused by the high price or the taste ( idek). Malaysians who live in Korea are mostly still studying than working. Usually and most of the time if we want to eat Malaysian food we will cook. We bring all the stuff. spices and ingredients etc to Korea. ( 30-40kg's of luggage allowance is really precious ya know!)
Thus, if you come to Korea and want to eat Malaysian food do tell us and let's do masak2 together hehe.

Okay next!

Korean food

Well, I actually don't mind if Malaysia has no restaurant around Ewha because my taste bud is quite blend with the Korean food. If you check the link I attached above I mentioned about Alchon ( I reallyy love Alchon!yumm). Gosami, hannki dukki ( tteokbokki buffet), and many more.

I usually go to Kimbab cafe or kimbab cheonguk because it has various choices of Korean food . There are many branches of Kimbab chonguk here.

There are two food cafe around Ewha. This is the one located near to the exit 4 of Ewha station.

Cost: starting from 1500 won above

Japanese food

We have Abiko Curry in the house! It is only 5 minutes walk from Ewha Main Gate

The food is tasty.

cost : 10,000 krw above

Chinese food

There's lots of choices for chinese food. Usually they will call and order for delivery because there also many delivery ajossi are passing the flyers . I went for a chinese restaurant and it is in front of the Abiko curry . The jjampong is really good. But because I am not really into seafood, I can't eat all of the clams. Too many

Cost: starting from 5000~8000 won

Thai food

Best Thai food around Ewha! Pad thai is soo good . The shrimp curry too.

Cost: 6500 won above

Fastfood

We have Popeyes!!

I tried Popeyes in Malaysia and the ayam goreng ( fried chicken) is soo good. But I cant eat chicken here because they are not using halal food. I usually order the fries and shrimp burger

Cost: Burger set starting from 4000 won above

Student price food ( cheap and yummyyy)

Bapburger

Will only cost you around 1800 won~ 3000 won

Arirang rice cup

Cost: Around 2500 won above. If you come before 11 am, it will be 2500 won each

GGgo

So delicious and you can ask for the spiciness level.
Cost: starting from 3500 won. Additional charge for topping

Coffee shops

There are too many coffee shops around Ewha. Once u get here, you will know.

But, one of my favourite ( including the one in previous entry which is Paiks cafe) I also love Cafe Gate. I love the green tea. I was not a green tea lover . But, after I tried it once it makes me addicted.

Fuuh. I introduced a lot to you. and oh! Don't forget the street food also yum! I like the ajumma that sells fishcakes ( many kinds of fishcakes or we call it as odeng) during the winter. So good I can eat 5 sticks in one time hehe.)

Here I am feeling super hungry while typing this post. Erghh and it is two o'clock in the morning huuuu.

Next week I am going for vacation!! Will share some pictures in another post. ( as if everyone wants to see it duh me. )

Thank you for your time. See ya!!

Disclaimer: All the picture above obtained from the Google. None of them is mine but I tried all of these food listed.

How to make Korean friends/friends at Ewha

Assalamualaikum and haiii

안녕하세요!!

I am really in longg and relaxing vacation ( at home) after Eid celebrations. all my relatives already go back to their hometown and here I am doing nothing haha.

andd.. for this week topic will be about the tips in making Korean friends.

First. Smile!

Second. Say hai!

Ok....these are not really good tips.

You have to know that there are lots of program involving Korean and international students in Ewha. For exmple:

  • mentoring program
This a program where a Korean student is assigned to help international students to get adapted in Korea life and helping you if you have problems. I still contact my mentor since 2014 till now and she graduated and doing intern program.
This is us. Me and my Malaysian friend, Turkey and Guatemala friends. Automatically you can make friends from other countries too.!

  • tutor/tutee program
As an engineering student, I really need helps from seniors and friends in my study. Thus, I join the tutoring program as the tutee and it does help. All of the members are my batchmate from the same course.

  • Dormitory resident community program

This is a bunch of people I really love so much ahaa.

  • Member training. Something like two days one night camp ( my batu loncatan ( effective way in knowing and getting closer to all my department friends or called as 동기. ( batchmates)

To your batchmates:

Tips- don’t be too shy to say hi and greet them first. They might don’t have confidence to speak in English. Just use your Korean. Even you are not really good in Korean. But at least u tried and they know your ability in speaking Korean. If they started to speak casually ( speaking without ending form of . By using / it means that you can be reaallyyy close with them. And they will call you eonni if you are older than them. Tehee. During my first year I barely to get close with my batch mate in class. As I entered the second year I said Hi to one of my Korean friend and because of that  we are really close to each other now.

Also, I didn't join the camp during my first year because I don't drink alcohol and because I am a muslim I really have restrictions in food. I don't eat pork etc. But professor made it a 'must go' program for our batch . Thus, I go and there I made some friends and they noticed me . I am not in awkward situations anymore.

Foreigners students society

You can find many international students in English taught classes / can make Korean friends through the classes too. Since they are really good in English . you can speak with them comfortably using both languages.
-        Usually, international students won't ignore you if they know u because you are in same conditions with them. And can understand each other very well.

  •      Since they already recognize you, you can have  chit chat with them if you happen to meet them on the street
Last but not least, your own country student council . You have to keep in touch with them since they are the best companions if you miss your country. I'm blessed to have Malaysians in Ewha organizations and also Persatuan Pelajar Malaysia Korea (PPMK) Malaysian students in Korea organization here in Korea. They really help a lot and I'm also one of the committee member for this session.

Basically, like the other universities Ewha also has great facilities that can help students to live conveniently  and as long as you have the student id you can use them anytime. BUT! We have the most special building (?)/ place here in Ewha.

The ECC ( Ewha Campus Complex)

Intro --->

Ewha Campus Complex (ECC) changed the topography of university campuses around the world

With an unusual design that makes underground seem like overground, ECC goes bryond being a building to be a new land scape that harmonizes with the natural background. The ECC project started with the natural background. The ECC project started with the idea that students needed the best campus environment where they could spend more time.
Selected through the International Design Competition in February 2004, Dominique Perraut's ECC is a place of learning and a space for communication and meeting Dominique Perrault is known for his designs of numerous works of architecture: the French National Library(1995), famouce as a Parisian landmark; the Olympic Velodrome and Swimming Pool in Berlin, Germany(1992); the New Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersbrug, Russia(2003); and the the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg(2008).
ECC was his first projeact in Asia with construction beginning in 2005. It opened its doors in April 2008.
